There is no doubt that the dental surgeon is the professional who has great knowledge of the face and neck and who performs numerous invasive procedures to make the smile more beautiful, so it is natural that he uses other innovative techniques that harmonize the face with the smile in Advanced Esthetic Dentistry.
When the muscles under the skin are contracted, tense, the skin folds on the surface, generating furrows, differences in relief, which are wrinkles. On the other hand, when this musculature is relaxed, the skin remains smooth. Over time, the cutis begins to present lesions in the deepest layer (dermis), as if it were breaking. These “breaks” become deep cracks, which intensify when the musculature contracts, but do not disappear with the musculature relaxed, they are the “definitive” wrinkles.
The botulinum toxin molecule has the ability to block the muscles in the region where it is applied. For this reason, it can be used for aesthetic purposes and also in the treatment of asymmetries in facial paralysis, hyperhidrosis (intense sweating in the hands and feet), bladder disorders, among other health problems.
The duration of the effect of botulinum toxin varies between 4 to 6 months, depending on the quality of the product. Here at our clinic we always use the best and most durable products on the market, which are products imported from GALDERMA.
These are completely different products. The toxin has the function of relaxing the musculature, softening wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a filler, used to give volume in regions where it is applied. In very deep expression lines, such as the nasolabial folds, known as the Chinese mustache, hyaluronic acid plays a role. In crow's feet around the eyes, the indication is the use of botulinum toxin. They are quite different problems.
As soon as it is applied, it is already possible to see the volume of the product filling the region, and it will bring the following benefits:

- Chinese mustache and puppet marks (nasolabial folds).
- dark circles (in the lacrimal groove) to remove that tired look.
NOTE: with the exception of the forehead because it contains noble vessels that supply the blood circulation of the eyes.
The volume will be evaluated by the professional together with the patient, as the effect is immediate.We try to leave a very natural volume and, if desired, in a second application session we can increase the volume a little if the patient wishes. This review of the filler with hyaluronic acid is performed in about 15 to 30 days at the follow-up appointment.
And if the patient does not like or wants to reverse the procedure or reduce just a little volume; hyaluronic acid is 100% reversible because it is absorbable, we can apply an enzyme called Hyaluronidase that instantly dissolves and absorbs the applied hyaluronic acid.
